How The West Fargo School Board Boundary Change Impacts Horace Schools
WEST FARGO—The West Fargo School Board approved changes to its elementary school boundaries that will have a direct impact on hundreds of students and families who live west of the Sheyenne River in West Fargo.
Here is the breakdown of the approved changes:
• Approximately 70 Aurora Elementary School students in each grade who live west of the Sheyenne River will be impacted
• Impacted students will become party of the Heritage Middle School and Horace High School feeder system instead of entering the Sheyenne High School feeder system
Beth Slette, Superintendent West Fargo School Board, attributed the decision for the swift boundary changes to the sooner-than-expected rapid increase in growth the district has incurred in recent years. The district had initially planned for a 400-500 growth in new students each year, but in 2021, the district saw close to 650 new students across the district, which added more to the Sheyenne feeder system than anticipated, Slette said.
"The unprecedented growth is already beyond what we tried to plan for," Slette said in an inforum.com story.
